CEW's Prediction Blog: The Doctor Vs. Rick Sanchez

AwesomeEthan48 made this DB Skull Template

“Any Fool can Know, the point is to understand.”

― Albert Einstein

The Doctor, the heroic Time Lord of Doctor Who.

Rick Sanchez, the alcoholic genius grandpa in Rick and Morty.

Sometimes there is more to a person than their appearance or personality. While they may seem selfish and hostile, there is a lot of mystery to the person that can make you feel sorrow when getting a second look at the whole picture. This truly comes when man becomes the most intelligent mind of all that comes with a heavy price. No matter the challenges brought to these characters, it makes them terrifyingly creative to achieve the impossible. And starting with style, two of fiction’s most remarkable minds will be facing off that will bring reality itself to its knees.

Without a doubt, both have earned their status and degrees by using their brains and brawn to overcome any odds brought against them. They have traveled many adventures with their companions, leading the charge with battled scars in their hearts and still face danger head-on. But, which genius will outclass the other using the wits and tools they have to be fiction’s greatest traveler? Most importantly, who would win a Death Battle?

In Case You Wondering…

The series of both Doctor Who and Rick and Morty is very confusing and complex for this fight as many factors in their abilities and arsenals screw the matchup as a whole. This is why the battle will mainly focus on what both doctors can perform by themselves and follows their stories faithfully.

For The Doctor, both television series from BBC, the original from the ’60-’’90s and the reboot from 2006-current, will be the primary source to follow. Any spinoffs, books/comics, novels, and games shall be secondary. Most importantly, the character’s Incarnations will all be focusing on 1-12 and the War Doctor, more on him later, since they all are the same character.

Some of you might know right; I did now not mention the 13th doctor or the female doctor. But surely I am adding her since she is ap-

I love this gif

Long story short: The Female Doctor destroyed the extended canon lore in the worst way possible and ultimately will not be a part of the Doctor’s bio. Similar to Netflix’s She-Ra, the version of that character became just too different from the original counterparts to where she had to be axed in the end.

As for Rick, the Sanchez codenamed C-137 shall be the main fighter of choice since he has been confirmed to be the Prime Rick. The other Ricks shall get into later for more detail in the blog but would still stand out for feats since they are the same person from different outcomes. The television series will be the trustworthy source where games, comics, and commercial shorts will be secondary. And yes, the commercial shorts are essential to Rick in his character.

There will be spoilers for Rick and Morty Season 5 and the finale, so read at your own risk.

Without further ado, ALLONSY!!!

Background

The Doctor

“I'm the Doctor. I'm a Time Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the Constellation of Kasterborous. I'm 903 years old, and I'm the man who is gonna save your lives and all 6 billion people on the planet below. You got a problem with that?"

When it comes to the omniverse, some races and gods go beyond what the mind could predict. With their different goals, all of them either maintain a simple life or seek the peace that brings in the most significant threats of evil who seek to destroy reality itself. But, all sin has one thing in common, they fear a single warrior who is the guardian of Time and Space. That warrior is known to everyone as The Doctor

Little is known about the origins of The Doctor about his past life. Not even his real name is mentioned once, with only his past companions/loved ones keeping the word to their graves. However, we know that his adventures all begin with him “borrowing” a TARDIS.

Confirmed by the official Doctor Who’s Character Encyclopedia and The Vault, The Doctor was a Time Lord in his homeworld Gallifrey. Living most of his life peacefully, The Doctor mainly was a pacifist living quietly until the day he got involved with a riot, which resulted in him being wanted by the Time Lords themselves. He was able to escape Gallifrey by mostly stealing a TARDIS, where he discovered versions of Earth. The Doctor started exploring the multiverse and discovering many foes alongside his companions like Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and Sarah Jane Smith. He would even meet and team up with his past selves on a few occasions and then spend most of his successive reincarnations fighting battles and saving timelines and reality daily.

However, during his reincarnation as the 8th Doctor, he would never be the same as he fought a battle that would scar him for life— The Last Great Time War.

The modern reboot occurs as the original series ends with some alternative versions of how the war was foretold but still ends the same way and follows the main lore.

To Summarize The Time War: The Doctor’s greatest enemies, the Daleks, went into an all-out assault against the Time Lords to destroy their rivals once and for all. The Doctor never interfered and helped those affected by the conflict until he died trying to save a survivor in a falling spaceship. Allies of the Time Lords were able to revive him and begged for his help in winning the war. And he agreed with drinking a special Elixir of Life that made have a bonus reincarnation to help win the war, now being named The War Doctor. But, the long battle was never in favor of victory.

The aftermath of The Time War resulted in the Daleks attacking Gallifrey and the last stronghold of the Time Lords. Being old and tired, The Doctor was left with a heartbreaking choice to save the universe from the enemy hands. He destroyed Gallifrey that nearly wiped out both Time Lords and Daleks. Many galaxies, stars, and lives were gone within a second, and The Doctor was forever scarred in the aftermath.

Despite the most challenging choice he has made, he continues exploring and meeting new allies, including one of his future wife’s River Song, and would rewrite the ending of the Time War with the help of all versions of himself. The Doctor explores onwards in his long journey of protecting the multiverse and determination to shield all those he loves and lost.

Till… well, Doctor Who was not the same after the 13th took a different road.

 Rick Sanchez (C-137)

Wubba Lubba Dub-Dub

How could a wholesome grandpa who just thanked his daughter for delicious eggs show his gratitude? By getting drunk and taking her son into smuggling illegal alien plants, shoving them into his @$%, and failing to deliver them. And that was just the pilot. But for Rick Schanz, it was just another quest of him against the universe. Now with Morty and his family.

The past of this alcoholic genius has not been foretold nor confirmed with only pieces of the puzzle. How could the most brilliant man in the multiverse of Rick and Morty be an old drunk arsehole? What made him this way? Rick’s past and youth are up in the air to where it might never be shown. However, what is confirmed is that after starting a band with his friends Birdperson and Squanchy, he would marry Diane Sabchez and give birth to Beth. Rick’s original version of Beth was tragically killed at 35 by one of the Ricks, and sadly Diane. Eventually, he would “disappear” and go all John Wick to start killing Ricks to find the Rick that killed his family. He failed to find the killer and killed so many versions of himself that the Council of Ricks was formed. It was then Rick decided just to retire and live with one of the versions of Beth where the show’s pilot starts.

After twenty years, Rick “returned” to the Smiths and started his adventure with Morty; still, after all those years, the Prime Rick has indeed made a name for himself in the multiverse. Being an intergalactic terrorist, making the craziest of inventions that break the laws of reality, and giving God the middle finger is another dull day for Rick. Through despite his aggression and controlling behavior, Rick does have a big heart for the Smiths, except for Jerry, and is trying to become a better person for them. Even when the danger gets severe and the universe screws him again, Rick Sanchez will remind anyone and everyone not to f^(k with him or his family.

Equipment

The Doctor

TARDIS

One of sci-fi’s most fantastic vehicles in fiction, and The Doctor’s prominent use of travel, The Time and Relative Dimension Across Space, or TARDIS, was the special transport that The Doctor kindly borrowed to begin his journey. Despite the model being a Type 40, an outdated version of the TARDIS’ built by the Time Lords and made better ones, later on, this one was special as she and The Doctor became a dynamic duo. And to explain why as in a person, the TARDIS somehow became an entity and is alive, confirmed in the Character Encyclopedia. It even turned into a human at one point.

...moving on.

Its primary use, as mentioned, mostly flies across time and space, including the minds of because it is a metaphysical engine. But, it also has a few more tricks on its sleeve for being dimensionally transcendental. While it can not apart to match its surroundings anymore due to staying as a police box, it can change the inside into what is desired and fits The Doctor’s style. Like a pocket dimension, “It’s bigger on the inside.” The TARDIS can translate alien languages of all species and receive them to others besides The Doctor. Two Tardis alone can create a time cone. It also has a tractor beam that can move planets, can heal itself out and in, change the weather, go out of sync with time, create barriers that can block higher beings, create 12-D Data maps, control explosions to cause paradoxes, and durable to survive black holes, and supernovas. But, beings like The Quantum Archangel can overpower the Tardis even with these shields.

The TARDIS can be powered by many types of energies, whether from a black hole, temporal radiation, stars, and even life forces as The Doctor gives his to her

Sonic Screwdriver

Do not let these screwdrivers trick you since this is The Doctor’s primary tool he loves to use as a magic wand. It is a swiss army knife that every traveler, even Rick, would die to have as it can mostly do anything. While most of The Doctor’s versions have been different in style, they mostly work the same way in their abilities that have been cased different from each set. Except they cannot work for all wooden or unsealed.

Here are the main features that the Sonic Screwdriver has shown to do:

  • Hacking: Sonic Screwdriver has been shown in various stories to hack even the most advanced of technology. Whether it can be doors, computers, networks, spaceships, cash machines, phones, alarms, any type of technology, the Doctor can hack it. Even able to disable weapons, barriers/force fields, cloaking, bombs, and reverse teleportation.

  • Unlocking: A get out of jail-free card is not needed when you have one. The Doctor’s use is to open any door, lock, barriers, handcuffs basically, and security systems he wants. He can also close them, fuse the materials to make them last longer, and open and close tears across space-time.

  • Scanning: Both a universal GPS and Pokemon Pocket Index, this two in one allows The Doctor to get information and find its location simultaneously. It can detect all lifeforms, gather information from nearly anything, and check for interference of any kind. The scanning can locate simple things like apples to Dimensional Lesions and even the TARDIS. It can also be used for medical purposes in checking on the person’s health and status, including DNA

  • Magnetism: Sonic ScrewDriver has been shown to affect the magnetic field. As the 5th Doctor, one time reversed the magnetic field on Monopticons. It can also magnetize itself to remove bolts

  • Amplification: Depending on the target, the Sonic Screwdriver can power up both itself and any other device in use. The Sonic Screwdriver alone one time created a storm and made it rain

  •  Erase: Where it has a pen, it can help to also come with an eraser. Expect it can do more than just eraser Markers and memories from people and even data from devices

Psychic Paper

Some may find this very stupid as the paper is blank, but that is the genius part. The Psychic Paper blank piece of paper that the holder shows to others to show them whatever he wants them to believe who it is. You can put memes on this just for laughs. Also, it can be used on machinery since it can alter memories and adapt when required. But, it does not work on other physics or geniuses like William Shakespeare, who is VERY smart.

Sonic Sunglasses

These shades are more than excellent but are a sonic screwdriver. After the 12th Doctor got blind and lost his screwdriver, he made shades that have infrared/thermal imaging to see and “Sonic Glasses” capable of the same abilities as a sonic screwdriver.

Unbreakable Chains

In one of the best moments of The Doctor’s career, he made chains once so strong because of being chains forged in the heart of a dwarf star. While the chains have only been shown once in the series, it is more likely in his character that he can create more.

TARDIS Key

You can’t open a lock without a key. The TARDIS Key is because not only can it open the TARDIS, but it also summons it around himself. Should the TARDIS be deactivated and removed from Space-Time, the Doctor could bring it back with enough power.

TARDIS Homing Watch

After getting exiled to Earth by the Time Lords during his early days of adventure, the 2nd Doctor acquired a unique watch to locate his or any TARDIS. The Third Doctor continued to use it until it disappeared during one of his quests.

 Invisibility Watch

The 12th Doctor got another watch that allows him to go invisible. He can also sense when the watch is being used.

 Chronodyne Generator

The 12th Doctor once used these time mines to accelerate time around a user sending them billions of years into the future.

Signet Ring

Before the 2nd Doctor introduced the Sonic Screwdriver, the very first had his Signet Ring. He would give it away, but it was one of the oldest weapons he used. While it does have the same unlocking, energy protection, and repairing as the Sonic screwdriver, the unique feature for this is hypnosis. It also helped increase the strength of the Doctor’s ability and cast some magic spells

Anti-Plastic

The Doctor also can create antiplastic to destroy anything plastic-related. It also has Anti-Oil somehow.

The Writer’s Block

The 12th Doctor once created a jail cell made out of stasis. While he only made one, it can apply; he knows how to make more.

2Dis

The 12th Doctor created a device that can turn 2-D objects back to their original 3-D state. It can as well do the opposite in turning 3D shapes into 2D.

Species Matcher

The 11th Doctor, while meeting Vicent van Gogh, he used this device to get information on one of the invisible races. Can gather intel on any individual, including The Doctor himself, and recorrect itself should intel become an error.

Sonic Earmuffs

The 10th Doctor created these earmuffs to block out any noise as well as any telepathic attacks.

Bessie

Another vehicle The Doctor liked to travel with; the Third Doctor modified this car during his exile on Earth, to which he added a lot of features. He included an increased gravity stabilizer which stated it could resist a tornado, turn into a monster truck, has an anti-theft force field, and a minimum inertia hyperdrive

Magic Box

So in the Classic Doctor Who comic series, which are very hard to find today, The 1st Doctor had built an invention for Santa Claus called his “Magic Box” that changed the size of an object. The box can change the dimensions of living and even entities as The Doctor had to use the device on a polar bear, a squirrel, and a demonic magician. It also allows the user to create a model and has a heat ray feature.

Time Flow Analog

A device that can deactivate any time travel equipment nearby. While the Doctor has not shown to have this tool on him, he stated that he and his friends at school used to make them a lot to “spoil” on time travel assignments/tests. He confirmed this when both the Third and Sixth built the jamming device with nothing but household materials.

Time Ring

The Time Lords to the 2nd and 4th Doctors gave these rings and bracelets that allowed the user to time travel.

De-mat Gun

Do not let the name fool you, as this is one of the most potent weapons The Doctor has in his weaponry. There is a significant reason why the Time Lords banned and locked this dangerous firearm in their vault because the De-mat Gun once fired a beam that targets all the molecules of the targets and “removes them from time.” In other words, the gun erases the mark from reality. Like, what Wally West did to Archie Sonic, type of erasure. The downside to the weapon is that it requires a Great Key of Rassilon to activate and is a one-shot weapon as the gun is so strong it destroys itself. But, it can be easily be made where the 8th Doctor in the comics upgraded the gun to replicate the Doctor’s most potent weapon and stated it might even be able to seal the Medusa Cascade.

Psilent Songbox

  • Note: While The War Doctor has destroyed this weapon, he has repaired and recreated even the most destructive weapons.

During the Time War, this weapon disguised as a Gallifreyan children’s toy was discovered and used to defeat a powerful race called the Cyclor. Using the device resulted in banishing the higher dimensional race and caused a time paradox, resulting in a complete "chronal meltdown,” which collapsed all possibilities, past, future, and timelines together. It also turned one of the Tardis into a temporal bomb, which could warp the reality and space-time of everything it touched, including the Cyclors.

Personal Reality Warp

The 6th Doctor once built a device that could create a parallel dimension based on the person’s recent experience. One of his companions accidentally activated it and turned their world based on Alice in Wonderland

Hand of Omega

The 1st and 2nd Doctors got to hold a powerful weapon called Hand of Omega, which could alter a star's life cycle and turn them into a supernova. It could also enhance and create weapons strong enough to destroy a Dalek Ship. While the device disappeared and is rumored to have been destroyed, they are more than one Hand of Omega from different dimensions.

The Moment

If anyone was wondering how The Doctor ended The Last Great Time War, this was the weapon he used to do it. The Moment, or Eye of Discord, is probably the second most powerful weapon, behind Dalek’s Reality Bomb, in the series of Doctor Who. Having a mind of its own that can read the user’s mind, including memories and taking forms as an entity, like the TARDIS, The Moment is a Nigh Omniscient superweapon capable of destroying everything inside the Time-War, including galaxies, from existence. With just one push of the red button. It also can summon all incarnations of The Doctor thanks to creating time fissures of past and future. This was how the 10th, 11th, and War Doctors all met each other before rewriting the outcome of the Time War. While the comic version shows The Moment being used from the De-mat Gun, the source still shows the full power of the weapon overall.

Extras

This section is mostly some more equipment The Doctor has shown but lacked depth.

  • Axumillary Orb: One of the Master’s destructive weapons before the 3rd Doctor apprehended it, this orb that you could fit in your pocket has enough power to “pulverize” an entire planet. In other words, it can destroy a world down to its particles.

  • Armageddon Sapphire: A superweapon capable of restarting a new universe and tearing reality apart, which causes damage to the Six-Fold realm. The 6th Doctor tried to use it but was stopped last minute and returned to his universe.

  • Chronic Tripwire: A special tripwire used to accelerate evolution so much to the point beings become dust. The War Doctor once used it to destroy a Dalek saucer.

  • Imagineum: A large mirror that Can turn light into matter and create duplicates of beings. The 8th Doctor once used it to duplicate the Celestial Toymaker, though it was destroyed.

  • Delta Wave: The 9th Doctor had a Delta Wave generator he can broadcast a wave that will send wave frequencies to put to sleep or kill anyone with an organic brain. The range can go from personal to at least planetary, though it does require prep time depending on the accessible tools.

  •  De-mesmeriser: A device that nullifies the use of mind control and perception.

  • Space-Time Vortex Crystal: A crystal able to summon a time storm. The Space-Time Vortex once swept away the Eternals' powers. And no, not Marvel.

 Rick Sanchez

Space Cruiser

Rick’s principal vehicle for travel and one that Charles would use for driving. Rick’s ship has shown to like his flying machine and has put a lot of features to make anyone think of stealing it their last mistake. For starters, the ship is solid and durable to smash through cities, houses, prisons, and even pull the Earth once. The vessel has A LOT of weaponry and defensive measures that have an A.I. to function when Rick is not around. It takes its job seriously. Some of the features include: lots of energy weaponry, scan information on the spot to create some of the messed up solutions, drop bombs strong to destroy naval ships, laser beams, has mechanical arms, can release gas like clouds including the inside, a ray that enlarges as big as a continent, has legs to can create tunnels, summons mini bots to repair itself, has a mind scanner in the trunk, comes with space suits, scanned a whole planet of snakes including its history and culture then made an anti-venom in seconds, plays harmonica music, and can auto park

Rick’s ship also has a battery that powers it, which is genuinely a mircoverse that Rick can return and enter at ease. The only downside to it is that it can get flat tires.

Portal Gun

Rick’s leading tool and the gun that got his name across all universes. This gun’s primary usage is to allow the user to travel through all time and space to any galaxy by shooting a portal. The weapon can fire multiple outlets at once and has combat usage when Rick needs to be creative. The portal gun can redirect lasers, open to hostile environments, split beings in half, a self-destruction button that kills those in the blast radius and blind others who see, somehow flooded a room and drain it, minimize more than one portal for Rick to shoot targets more quickly, and once enlarged a doorway to city size.

Two major flaws to the portal gun are the gun easily breaks and can run out of charge fast.

Laser Guns

If there is one type of gun Rick loves to use, it would be the lasers. Rick has shown to have more than one type of laser with their abilities, yet some the same. Here are the types of laser guns Rick has shown and used:

Wrist Watches

When Rick needs to ask fast, he has his wristwatches to do it. His watches have the same abilities. Sadly, it does not turn people into snakes, but it does more than just shoot particle beams. It can also: create shields to protect himself and others, more lasers, create holographic clones, scan the surroundings, and reflect projectiles like bullets, a cable hook, turn into Cyclops from the X-men, telekinesis, and gives mecha like armor with a sword.

Freeze Ray

Jokes aside, Rick also has a weapon that can freeze a person Sub-Zero style. It also can be used as a gun since one of the Council of Ricks froze Jerry and unfreeze at ease

Mind Eraser

I smell Memes with this pic.

If Rick needs to forget anything, he has this weapon that can erase memories in a flash. While we have never seen it be used in combat, it can do significant damage, such as Rick and Morty completely forgetting themselves

Lab Coat

Even Doctor Strange would be impressed. His lab coat also has defense features to project Rick or act when he requires it. Not only does it allow to attack and restrain target, but it also creates intangibility to pass through with ease. Also, it can self-destruct.

Suits

Rick knows his lore of comics and shows Ironman might file a lawsuit. Many suits Rick has made in case of the worst outcomes needed. The two suits being the focus for this section are the Purge Suit and the Booby Trap suit.

The Purge Suit can be summoned from Earth and travel to Rick quickly, which he can put on and go all out. The suit comes with wrist machine guns, increased strength, feet boosters to fly, another stunning feature, a wrist blade, a flamethrower, a buzzsaw, and missiles.

As the name suggests, the second suit is the Booby Trap suit prevents any physical damage from any traps.

Meeseeks Box

Admit it; you were waiting for this one. Rick’s Meeseeks Box is indeed one of the most potent weapons in his weapon because of its purpose of summoning an infinite number of Mr. Meeseeks. As Rick explained, the goal of Mr. Meeseeks is to live just to complete their orders and stop living. The Meeseeks are hard to kill as regular grenades can’t kill them and are strong enough to take down this giant. They are also very durable as they can’t even kill each other.

The downside to the Meeseeks is that they can quickly go insane if their task is never completed and can even turn on the person who is given their assignment. It is possible for them to last for years as one of them did that and got some jabs on Rick

Time Freeze

If only Dio Brando could have done this. Another insane device Rick has made was using it to stop time in his universe literally. Rick had stated that it was six months when he was about to unfreeze time, basically having no limit and the user’s choice. The biggest flaw is that the user can not touch anyone or be destroyed time itself when unfrozen. Morty and Summer were lucky in them, causing a time rift instead when both contacted each other.

Curse Remover

A device that Rick made within a day allows the user to analyze the curse and, well, remove it. While it is not shown that the device could be removed from a person, the tool did show that Mr. Needle’s supplies were removed no matter the power, as he was the Devil of the series.

Death Crystals

Rick has smuggled another rare item for some time: those crystals that can show multiple outcomes of the user’s end. While it can not show the step-ups to each ending, Rick has started to use them in a battle to predict actions, and Rick did it when saving Morty and shooting mercenaries.

GoTron

Rick is a big fan of Voltron and became the primary pilot with the rest of the Smiths.

Being Rick’s newest and most potent weapon, GoTron has similar abilities to the old-school mech. Each pilot has their Ferrets, laser cannons and combining to form GoTron. GoTron itself can fly, even in space, rotate complete 360, and comes with a sword to take down monsters. It can also summon miniature versions of itself, create an explosion big enough to see outside of the Earth, and absorb a city as energy while its primary source is a black hole. All Ferrets alone in a flashback seemed to cause the extinction of the dinosaurs

The two errors to the GoTron are that it lacks any defense and does require all five pilots to form GoTorn. However, Jerry was the only person to be able to pilot GoTorn by himself. This does not mean that Rick can do it as well, but he could find a way.

Phoenix Project

Probably the most helpful weapon and most mess up Rick has made, Project Phoenix is a cloning process where Rick can transfer his mind into the body of a clone. What’s more important is that when Rick did die, his mind transfered across the other clones in the multiverse—even taking the physical form of a clone from different races. While he is stripped down nude once the transfer is complete, it can allow for him to rejoin the fight and gain allies like other Ricks.

Extras

This section is mostly some more equipment Rick has shown other than the show.

  • Dream Inceptors: Rick made these devices to travel through a target’s dream and change their behavior and thoughts. He can even work on foes like Scary Terry, but not when he is awake. Bitch.

  • Time Travel: Despite Rick hating doing this troupe, he has shown in making devices of traveling through time. The future Rick and Morty sent their past selves the device with no consequences.

  • Concentrated Dark Matter: A material that allows Rick to travel faster than anyone other than the universe but creates a massive explosion when mixed poorly.

  • Garage: Basically, Rick’s base where he keeps his weapon and armor. Very great on defense and has an A.I

  • Decoys/Androids/Holograms: Rick again takes his cloning too far by making a lot of copies based on himself and his family. Just a shame the decoys can’t handle themselves in being one

  •  Love Potion/Diseases: Rick’s most infamous moment where he ended up making a love potion only to infect his world and make it worse in one night.

  • Magic: Even in fantasy land, Rick has made tools from scratch to wield magic. It can even amplify others to increase power

Abilities

The Doctor

Time Lord Physiology

The race of the Time Lords is very similar to the form of humans, yet their abilities and anatomy are what make them different. Time Lords were brilliant in creating the technology of time travel and were considered angels sometimes due to their influence of seeing time. More on that later. They are an alien race who became so advanced that they made themselves Guardians of Time and were so powerful they could remove magic. The Doctor is confirmed to be a part of this race as he has two hearts of the same anatomy and has the primary abilities of a Time Lord. Some minor capabilities that the Timelord can do include healing while in a coma or sleep state (00:36), having hindsight, learning to fly and levitate, directing electros, and can control their respiratory bypass system.

Time Lord Abilities

Incarnations/Regeneration

Efficiently the most well-known ability out of the three, Time Lords has a regeneration event any time they die; they are reborn with a new body with the same mind. The state allows the Doctor to heal all of his wounds, even exterior injuries after his incarnation. Maximum incarnations for each Time Lord is a total of twelve, thirteen if you count their birth life. Unless you’re the Doctor or The Master, then those rules are always broken.

By using the regenerative energy, The Doctor can give it to others like the TARDIS, delay his stateturn it off, or fake it.  The 10th Doctor has shown he can grow back limbs with some regenerative energy. The trigger heals the user at the cost of changing their form and personality, yet it can create a shockwave big enough to damage the Tardis and a Dalek saucer. However, some adverse effects like memory loss and hunger do happen in the first few hours. The biggest downside is that they can still be killed if they are in the incarnation state or run out of energy.

Telepathy

Another central ability Time Lords use is communicating through each other’s minds. Time Lords has telepathy to speak and read minds. The Doctor once shares his telepathy with a vampire through a blood fasting ritual, though humans can not as it would kill them.  As shown above, The Doctor can make a physical contract to look into other minds. This can go as far as putting others to sleep, messing with memories through erasers, and altering. Once went as prominent when the world’s population thinks his name simultaneously, it restores him to full strength.

The 11th Doctor once used a Memory Dump technique, which allows him to upload or download any information he wants with a head butt pokemon style. However, he dislikes the use of it but will do it if needed.

Hypnosis/Mind Control

The final paramount ability the Time Lords can do is the ability to control the mind of others. And the old school Doctors loved to use this during their adventures. The Doctor, on multiple occasions, used his hypnosis to overpower others in control and can aim at more than one target. The Doctor’s level of hypnotism can sometimes go on par with his nemesis, The Master, who once hypnotize the Earth by using the Archangel Network

Telekinesis

A side ability that Time Lords have is telekinesis, thanks to their physic telepathy. The 10th once used the move after restoring his health to create force fields and disarms the Master

High Intelligence

The Time Lords are brilliant at their craft since they are among the few races who can build technology advanced to time travel. As for The Doctor, he has shown with his genius experience where his foes fear the most. Knowing every language in his universe, being able to use machines he had never seen in minutes, knowing all names of stars, instantly identifying fine particles that were hadn’t existed for billion years, and outsmarting a lot of his enemies with some being gods and supreme beings.

Weapon Mastery

Thanks to his military training during his time as a soldier, The Doctor has shown to get serious when he gets a weapon. He has shown to be very skilled at swordsmanship, guns, metal poles, fencing, a spoon, and anything he uses as a weapon. The Doctor also presented to have marksmanship accuracy as the 10th Doctor was shown to hit his target with just a racket ball and a racket and hit a button with a satsuma. The 8th Doctor once shot bullets out of the air with a gun.

Hand to Hand Combat

Even when disarmed, The Doctor can defend himself with ease. He has studied different forms of fighting, from boxing, shown above, to Venusian aikido. The 10th Doctor has numerous times disarmed others at gunpoint, even robots.

Time Sensitivity/Precognition

Here is where we return to the part with the Time Lords being so powerful; they can see the flow of Time itself. Time Lords has shown to have space and time awareness that allows them to see time and detect changes in events, and the 11th Doctor test result was a Level 7 Evolved, which was very high and is confirmed when he once saw perception being used. The 8th doctor’s paramount ability is predicting the future and once the past. The Doctor can remember events from a time loop even when those affected forgot, and the 10th had once changed an outcome with his awareness with the same thing as the 8th Doctor.

Resistances

As The Doctor has proven from himself in almost all situations, he is tough to control or kill. Thanks to some of his Time Lord biology, The Doctor has shown a lot of resistance to many haxes and abilities over his time-fighting. Here are some of the most important ones he has shown to resist:

Heightened Senses

When he was questioned about fixing time, the doctor once stated, “That’s the burden of a Time Lord.” He has shown his senses are on a whole different level than a human, as The Doctor can describe the most depth of information. With smell, he can identify the year or spot on know The Master’s scent, taste teleportation in the air, and shown above, can see this white crystal out sync with time. His eyesight can go as far as recognizing Time Lords despite their regeneration and even seeing people like Captain Jack Harkness as a “fixed point.”

Rick

High Intelligence

Even Rick knows the dangers of life, which is why he stays in the game thanks to his wits. Many of his foes have stated Prime Rick to be the most competent man in the universe in his multiverse. And he has proven it time and time again in his adventures in outsmarting his foes. He created a mircoverse to use as his ship’s battery, killed a race as smart as Rick by tricking them, made a virus to switch bodies on the spot, and created a world called Froppyland for Beth.

Cybernetic Augmentations

Rick is never afraid of putting his body in the line of danger, which is why he also turned parts of his body with cybernetic parts. He was able to replace his arm right away after being “disarmed,” make his eye aim for his grapple arm, fire laser beams while analyzing DNA, magnetism, create whatever this is, makes a gas mask, extends his hands, covers organs with armor, nanofiber defense mesh to blow a shockwave for foes too close, and self destructs/creates a shield

 Haxes

So Rick might have some hax abilities because one of the strangest outcomes he did was doing a Death hax where others reacted to the action. He also was able to see others invisible, not seen to the eye. Despite not showing any others yet, it is safe to say Rick has more.

Hand to Hand Combat

Despite Rick‘s age, he can still show to throw a punch. People, aliens, a Zeus-like god, Rick’s experience brought him to keep up with even the most skilled like Bird Person and once fought two trained fighters at once. Should Rick need a boost,  he can also absorb energy and analyze its user’s abilities; this was how he could fly and fight a Zeus-like god and this alien to counter the other Ricks

Weaponry Mastery

Rick can grab any weapon and know how to use it, even if he has to make it on one the spot. Thanks to his survival skills, Rick has made the most complex of weapons and traps on the site, even while drunk. Lasers, swords, guns, beams, staff, and anything else Rick will use it if he has to. Rick’s accuracy is spot on even at a distance

4th Wall Awareness

Both Rick and Morty know they are characters and are shown numerous times to break the fourth wall. Hell, they presented at the Emmys in person. Even go as far as knowing commercials ads

Forms

Rick

Pickle Rick

In one of his most bizarre adventures, Rick has somehow turned himself into a pickle. Despite being useless at first, he would make a special suit out of a rat to make him move. It comes with a jetpack, razor blades to shoot or slash,  a laser cannon, and serum to return a human. It makes him very agile and harder to hit but still a pickle.

Weaknesses

The Doctor

In all of the adventures and dangers this Time Lord has faced with his gadgets, The Doctor was never a deity nor genuinely immortal. His anatomy requires his two hearts that involves a lot of regenerate energy, and burning up his hearts or canceling the phase will officially kill him. He has been reincarnated from fatal injuries such as a failed heart surgery from a bullet wound, falling from a radio tower, absorbing too much energy, radiation poisoning, and even old age. He still tries very hard to be a pacifist to save others and go as far as risking his life, though it can result in him being rash and blind from his ego and impatience.

And that is the Doctor’s true weakness, his compassion. Being a veteran and traveling the universe has made him null even with his tools and smarts that make him who he is. He will make the simplest mistakes and can be easily exploited into traps, especially his love for his companions and their humanity.

Lastly, the more minor said about the 13th era of the Female Doctor, the better.

Rick Sanchez

Despite being the best Rick in his multiverse, even he knows he is fucked in the head. Rick requires a lot of his tools and gadgets to defend himself from danger were many times has shown him killed in the gruesome of ways. He is genuinely reckless since he is sometimes a madman in being extra cocky and ego-heavy in being “better” than everyone. It also does not help that he badly is an alcoholic and abuses drugs daily.

Sadly, that is his greatest weakness, himself not caring about his life. While some may think Rick is selfish due to his ego, he suffers from high levels of depression. Because of the loss of his wife and daughter and the failure of vengeance for them, Rick has become a broken man who sees life as pointless. Rick truly cares for his love for Morty, Beth, Summer, and Jerry, more or less, but he faces a lot of his inner struggles in being alone and accepting reality with consequences. Which he a few times tried to commit suicide, shown above.

Verdicts

CEWinick

(ITS TIME FOR A VERDICT!!!)

Wow, I can not believe that I am finally doing the verdict section. Starting in late June, I wanted to try out making a prediction blog by myself because I finally got the time to try out new projects to start my freelance career. So, I decided to do one of my most requested matchups I wanted to see in a Death Battle for a while, which was The Doctor Vs. Rick Sanchez. The fight between two portal hopping experienced travelers who go on many adventures with their companions is a matchup that makes the most sense and is a battle whether the new alcoholic around the block has what it takes to go against one of the Godfathers of science fiction. I wanted to make my first prediction blog go out with a bang to remember. And oh boy, no wonder why this one took forever to complete. With their abilities, tools, and stories going off the walls, I had to make the fight as fair as possible while making it less complex to understand. Especially in finding the sources for Doctor Who classics, they are not copyrighted friendly to find and link.

Besides getting into the fight itself, it was mostly a mixture of Twilight Vs. Raven and Doctor Strange Vs. Doctor Fate, where both had powerful tools and abilities that could one-shot the other while also finding their maximum potential was tricky to pinpoint. Thankfully, I was able to decide the three main factors for the overall winner of this fight and get straight to the answers for each one. Here is the Three I chose: Stats, Weapons/Abilities, and Experience/Intelligence.

Round 1: Stats- When it comes to danger, Rick and The Doctor have to earn their share of fights to survive another adventure. Speed was the most tricky out of the stats because both were shown to have numerous light speed reactions, either driving their vehicles or dodging laser beams point-blank. While Rick avoided that Statlie from The President instantly, The Doctor used multiple beams at him and escaped within nanoseconds. However, despite their superhuman reactions, The Doctor terms speed has shown to be quick to rival gods, even those who can control time itself, such as The Black Guardian and Toymaker. Rick is fast and could be the same with his fight against Shleemypants, who can travel through time at ease, yet The Doctor again has more exposure to his conflicts with supreme beings and gives them a hard time.

The same can be said for strength and durability. Rick has physical strength told and presented to had sex with a planet and his body to withstand it. Heck, I even added another version of himself in which his head survived his multiverse exploding. However, again The Doctor also survived his levels of destruction on a much bigger scale, like being trapped in the White Void or fighting the Quntamn Archangel. Even if The Doctor is lowballed to the same level as Rick, The Doctor would still edge out on top physically in showing better endurance and raw power, like when he broke the Azbantium wall that was twenty feet thick

My point is despite Rick being truly athletic for his age; he is still not forceful to physically overpower the Doctor.

Rick was quick on his feet, but so too was the Time Lord and better in toughness. Round 1 goes to The Doctor.

Round 2: Weapons/Abilities: The biggest hurdle for this matchup is because both are too darn versatile, and it became the longest part of the blog to complete. The Doctor’s section was the most annoying to end because of balancing and limited his weaponry to focus on his main tools during his near sixty years of television. The Tardis and Sonic Screwdriver were evident and effective in the Doctor’s defense features like repairing or hacking. The Doctor has different versions of his Screwdriver, chains strong as a sun, anti-plastic and oil, a Time Ring, Sonic Earmuffs, watches, Bessie,  and other reality-warping devices like 2Dis control the situation. But, The Moment and De-Mat Gun are his big guns when he needs to get serious. One is a gun that erases the victim out of existence, and the other does the same thing in the form of an omnipotent atomic bomb where De-Mat could do the same. Then, the Time Lord abilities come in with his regain energy, telepathy, telekinesis, heightened senses, resistances, hypnosis, precognition, and of course, intelligence.

Rick meanwhile shows he also has the tools that are keeping him in this fight. His portal gun and ship are worthy of challenging The Doctor and more to come. He loves his lasers guns but also has his anti-matter gun, Mr. Meseeks box, wristwatch, battle suits, decoys, savepoint device, curse mover, Time Freeze, and even his coat. His central aces would be the GoTron to fight in offense, death crystals to predict his deaths, and the Phoneix Project to give him prep time and come back to life. His abilities besides his smarts are his Death Hax, cybernetic parts, and mastery in combat.

While Rick has some good advantages like having an army to make right away and better direction between offense and defense, The Doctor also takes it for his more versatile weapons and abilities. While Rick would easily take this, especially with Time Freeze, The Time Lord had major counters that dramatically changed the fight. For starters, The Doctor has been shown in the books twice to resist time being frozen, making Rick’s TIme Freeze useless. His Tardis is much more demanding in defense to tank any of Rick’s attacks while also having a better healing feature. The De-Mat and The Moment are the biggest problems for Rick as both can destroy him and his army in an instant and has no counters to both destructive weapons. Most importantly, The Doctor’s sonic screwdriver is the biggest problem for Rick because that tool can hack or destroy nearly all of Rick’s tools. And three times, Rick’s primary weapons have been shown like the Go Tron, Rick’s Portal Gun, and even the Phoenix Project. Even if Rick were added with extra firepowers, like having the Council of Ricks at his side, the results would have been the same since The Doctor has the firepower to wipe them all out at once.

And this was adding mercy to Rick in excluding The Doctor’s access to The Glory and Key To Time, which both were instant wins that were unfair in Rick’s favor.

Rick had the gadgets and abilities to break the law of physics, but The Doctor could do the same and better. Round 2 goes to The Doctor.

Final Round: Experience/Intelligence

The most important category to me in this particular fight since this was made the two who they are as characters. But, the answer was self-evident, so apparent that I can present it all in one image:

Coming from the Brand itself

Going to be short in this section and cut to the point, the Doctor’s biggest won con was how much wisdom he has gained throughout his many years of travel. Rick, without a doubt, is skilled and intelligent to match the Doctor in intelligence; however, there is a reason why the Doctor for Time Lords translates to Warrior. Because of his skills improving and memories staying throughout each incarnation, The Doctor’s has so much experience that it alone became a significant hole for Rick Sanchez never to catch up. The Doctor’s intelligence could also do anything better than Rick could, like how The Doctor finished the Blood Family the badass way. This was why I left this category last; the gap was shown from the start.

Rick was The Rickest Rick, but he could never outsmart a Warrior that thinks beyond the limits of the mind and soul. The Final Round goes to The Doctor.

Overall: The Doctor destroyed all three categories in showing how he was always prepared for a Death Battle.

I love both characters because of their mysterious backgrounds and strong character development traveling through time and space. However, there is a reason why The Doctor is one of the godfathers of pop culture. Despite the dangers of evil seeking the destruction of life, The Doctor represents the good of people and who they can become despite making the most challenging life choices. He fights hard in keeping his empathy and compassion and was able to forgive himself from The Time War to make a better outcome. Rick Schanz, on the other hand, is a broken man who is still trying to find his happiness in life and leave his purpose of being his Rick side behind. And that was why The Doctor won this fight; he was kind to Sanchez until his fury let him go all out.

Rick was agile and had some advantages to gain in this matchup, but The Doctor just had the stats, tools, and experience to put the time in a Rickle. There was “Sanchez” of beating this Timely Whimely Lord.

The Winner Is The Doctor!!!

Author’s Ending Note

I had a blast in making this blog, but finally glad it is now complete and finished. This became my passion in testing my research skills and finding the sources reliable to the respected series. The blog is not perfect since this was my first one to create, but I will be glad to get feedback and suggestions to improve my skills in future blogs. I hope to also next time have special guests come on here and share their thoughts while also helping make the edits and blogs come out faster.

Most importantly, thank you, G1s and Death Battle itself, for being the fantastic crew you guys are and allowing me to be where I am today. Until Next Time, Stay Awesome!!!
